Another reason for SASS Awards

Another Reason we need SASS Awards

Here is a perfect example of why SASS Awards are needed. The nominees for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in a Feature Film in the 2019 Directors Guild of America Award Nominations were:

BRADLEY COOPER - A Star is Born
ALFONSO CUARÓN - Roma
PETER FARRELLY - Green Book
SPIKE LEE - BlacKkKlansman
ADAM MCKAY - Vice

Alfonso Cuaron won which is fair, it is an amazing movie, BUT why should Peter Farrelly not be recognized for making something other than a goof ball farce? Is BlacKkKlansman the best movie Spike Lee has ever made? Did Bradley Cooper hit one out of the ballpark on his first at bat? Has Adam McKay stepped up his game into more serious material?

Shouldn't all these directors (note: all men in this case) be recognized for the good work they put out this year? Why does one have to "lose" just because there were others who made good movies in the same year.

SASS Awards wants to recognize all good work, recognize people doing their best without comparison to someone else work, and allow all artists to be recognized regardless of their gender, popularity, or for any other reason.

OK, rant over...
